Groups Pastor/Discipleship Director
Role Description
The Groups Pastor/Discipleship Director serves as the primary leader for groups across all ages at Blackman Baptist Church. Reporting to the Elder Team, this person will be a leader, unifier, and multiplier of what God wants to do in and through the church body. This is a part-time role requiring around 15-20 hours per week. Through recruiting and leading a team of volunteers, the Groups Pastor/Discipleship Director will be responsible for the following:
Adult Discipleship: Develop and lead volunteer leaders to ensure adults are growing together toward Christlikeness, biblical dependency, and gospel-centrality through Groups (Sunday School Classes, Community Groups, Men, Women, etc.). Create a multiplying, disciple-making expectation within the church body.
Kids Discipleship: Work with current volunteers to recruit and organize the necessary team to provide the children of BBC with engaging, age-appropriate biblical training. Create an environment that encourages kids to want to attend Sunday School and help them better understand and begin to practice the disciplines of following Jesus.
Student Discipleship: Serve as the primary discipleship leader, supported by a team of volunteer leaders and parents, for the middle and high school students of Blackman. Provide a Groups-based approach to helping students know, love, and live out the Word of God.
Logistics and Curriculum Management: Work with the administrative team to manage on-campus room scheduling and details for all Groups, including choosing and/or approving curriculum (with the support of the Elder Team).
Database Management: Work to regularly maintain and report on discipleship Groups and volunteers through Planning Center.
Meetings: Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly business meetings as the lead representative of the Groups Ministry.

Desire to serve God in Murfreesboro, TN
Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of ministry-related work experience
Experience facilitating small group discussions and Bible studies
Demonstrated ability to develop volunteers.
